This Amish Hamburger Steak Bake is a comforting and hearty casserole featuring seasoned ground beef patties smothered in a creamy mushroom sauce and baked to golden perfection. It’s an easy weeknight dinner that’s sure to become a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well and form into 6-8 patties.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream and parsley.
  6. Pour half of the mushroom sauce into a 9×13 inch baking dish. Arrange the hamburger patties over the sauce. Pour the remaining sauce over the patties.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.
  8. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles for a complete and satisfying meal. For a richer flavor, you can add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the mushroom sauce.
