Delicious Cheesy Tuna Melt Sandwich

These Cheesy Tuna Melts are a quick, easy, and satisfying meal perfect for lunch or a light dinner. Flaky tuna is combined with creamy mayonnaise and cheddar cheese, then toasted to golden perfection on your favorite bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna in water, drained
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices bread, such as sourdough or whole wheat
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, celery, red onion, Dijon mustard, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place 4 slices of bread, butter-side down, in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Top each slice of bread with half of the tuna mixture and a slice of cheddar cheese.
  5. Place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top, butter-side up.
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
  7. Remove from skillet and serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of paprika or a dash of hot sauce to the tuna mixture.
