Rich and Creamy Chocolate Orange Posset Dessert

This decadent chocolate orange posset is a creamy, intensely flavored dessert that requires no baking! The combination of rich dark chocolate and zesty orange makes for a truly unforgettable treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • Optional: Orange slices or chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the orange zest and orange juice.
  5. Add the chopped chocolate and whisk until smooth and the chocolate is completely melted.
  6. Pour the posset mixture into 4 small ramekins or serving glasses.
  7. Cover the ramekins with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the posset to prevent a skin from forming.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or preferably overnight, until set.
  9. Garnish with orange slices or chocolate shavings before serving, if desired.

Notes

For an extra burst of orange flavor, add a teaspoon of orange extract along with the zest and juice. You can also use a combination of milk chocolate and dark chocolate for a sweeter posset.
