This vibrant Cranberry Salsa is a festive and flavorful appetizer perfect for the holidays. The sweet and tart cranberries combined with the spicy jalapeno and fresh cilantro make for an irresistible dip served with tortilla chips or as a topping for grilled meats.

  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and minced
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries and remove any stems or bruised berries.
  2. In a food processor, pulse the cranberries until coarsely chopped. Be careful not to over-process.
  3. Transfer the cranberries to a medium bowl.
  4. Add the red onion, jalapeno, cilantro, lime juice, and orange juice to the bowl.
  5. If desired, add sugar or honey to taste.
  6. Season with salt to taste.
  7. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  8. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  9. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or as a topping for grilled chicken or fish.

Notes

For a milder salsa, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeno. You can also add other ingredients like chopped bell pepper or green onions for added flavor and texture.
