A rich and creamy Alfredo sauce made with butter, heavy cream, and Parmesan cheese, perfect for elevating your pasta dishes. This classic Italian sauce is smooth, flavorful, and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to brown.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  4. Reduce heat to low and slowly whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and thickened.
  5. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in chopped fresh parsley if using.
  7. Serve immediately over cooked pasta or your favorite dish.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream. Adding a pinch of nutmeg can also enhance the flavor.
