Creamed Spinach

Creamed Spinach is a rich and velvety side dish featuring tender spinach cooked in a luscious creamy sauce, perfect for pairing with steaks or roasted meats.

  • 1 lb fresh spinach, washed and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine; let it simmer gently for 4-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and ground nutmeg, mixing well until the cheese is melted and incorporated.
  7. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  8. Remove from heat and serve warm as a delicious side dish.

Notes

For extra richness, stir in a tablespoon of cream cheese or a splash of white wine before adding the cream.
