Decadent Slice of French Silk Pie

Indulge in the decadence of a classic French Silk Pie! This creamy, chocolatey dream is surprisingly easy to make, with a silky smooth filling and a flaky pie crust.

  • 1 ½ cups chocolate wafer crumbs
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine chocolate wafer crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate.
  3. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until set. Let cool completely.
  4. In a large bowl, beat melted chocolate and softened butter together until smooth.
  5. Gradually beat in powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  6. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla and salt.
  7. Pour chocolate mixture into the cooled crust and spread evenly.
  8. In a chilled bowl, whip heavy cream with 2 tablespoons powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  9. Spread whipped cream over the chocolate filling.
  10. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

For an extra touch, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of the whipped cream before serving. Store leftover pie in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
