Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually blend into the creamed mixture.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Roll out dough to about ¼ inch thickness on a floured surface.
  7. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra festive touch, sprinkle red or pink sanding sugar on top before baking or drizzle melted white chocolate after cooling.
