Delicious Homemade Cheese Danish Ready to Enjoy

  • 1 sheet (14.1 ounces) frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Stir in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into 9 equal squares.
  5. Place a spoonful of the cheese mixture in the center of each square.
  6. Bring two opposite corners of each square to the center and pinch to seal.
  7. Brush the tops of the danishes with milk and sprinkle with coarse sugar, if desired.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a fruity twist, add a dollop of your favorite jam on top of the cheese filling before baking.
