jam donut focaccia

Jam donut focaccia is a delightful fusion of sweet jam-filled donuts and soft, airy Italian focaccia bread. This unique treat combines fluffy dough with pockets of fruity jam, perfect for an indulgent snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
  • ½ cup strawberry jam (or any preferred jam)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 tbsp sugar in warm milk; let sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
  3. Add yeast mixture and olive oil to dry ingredients; mix until dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  7. Spread jam evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log, then shape it into a round or oval focaccia shape.
  9. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet; use your fingers to dimple the top.
  10. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and let rest for 15 minutes.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For an added indulgence, serve warm with a side of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of melted chocolate.
