Fresh Pumpkin Spice Donuts

These baked pumpkin spice donuts are a delightful fall treat! Warm spices and pumpkin puree create a moist and flavorful donut, perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Glaze:
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Transfer batter to a large zip-top bag and cut off one corner, or use a piping bag. Pipe batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about ⅔ full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth.
  9. Dip each donut into the glaze and place back on the wire rack to let the glaze set.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of molasses to the batter. You can also top the donuts with chopped pecans or walnuts.
