This decadent Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Earthquake Cake features a rich chocolate batter swirled with a creamy peanut butter filling and studded with Reese’s cups. Every bite is a delightful explosion of chocolate and peanut butter goodness!

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients called for on the box
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Prepare chocolate cake batter according to package directions. Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together sour cream, powdered sugar, peanut butter, butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter mixture over the chocolate cake batter.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups evenly over the peanut butter mixture.
  6. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the peanut butter mixture into the chocolate cake batter, creating a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Let cool completely before cutting into squares. Garnish with chocolate chips, if desired.

For an extra touch, drizzle melted peanut butter or chocolate over the cooled cake.
