Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna

Ahi tuna steak coated in crunchy sesame seeds, seared to perfection for a flavorful and healthy dish perfect for a quick dinner or elegant appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 2 ahi tuna steaks (6 oz each)
  • 3 tablespoons black sesame seeds
  • 3 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, for searing

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  2. Marinate the ahi tuna steaks in the mixture for 10 minutes in the refrigerator.
  3. Mix the black and white sesame seeds on a plate.
  4. Remove the tuna from the marinade and pat dry slightly. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  5. Press each tuna steak evenly into the sesame seed mixture to coat all sides.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if desired.
  8. Remove from heat and let rest for a minute before slicing thinly to serve.

Notes

Serve with a drizzle of soy sauce or wasabi mayo for an extra kick. Pair with steamed rice or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
