Bright and Festive Spicy Cranberry Salsa

This spicy cranberry salsa is a festive and flavorful condiment perfect for holiday gatherings or any time you crave a sweet and spicy kick. Serve with tortilla chips, grilled meats, or your favorite tacos for a burst of cranberry goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 red onion, finely diced
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and minced (or more, to taste)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cranberries and pick out any soft or bruised ones.
  2. In a food processor, pulse the cranberries until coarsely chopped. You can also chop them finely by hand if you prefer.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the chopped cranberries, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the lime juice, orange juice, honey or maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the dressing over the cranberry mixture and stir well to combine.
  6. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Add more jalapeño for extra heat, or more honey for extra sweetness.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, grilled meats, or other dishes as desired.

Notes

For a smoother salsa, you can blend all the ingredients in a food processor until you reach your desired consistency. This salsa is also delicious served over baked brie or as a topping for turkey burgers.
