Spicy Wontons in Chilli Sauce

Delight in these spicy wontons drenched in a flavorful homemade chilli sauce, perfect as a bold appetizer or a savory snack.

  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 250g ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger, finely grated
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp chili paste (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground pork, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and green onions.
  2. Place a small spoonful of filling onto the center of each wonton wrapper.
  3. Moisten edges with water, fold, and press firmly to seal the wontons.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and fry wontons until golden and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. In a small saucepan, mix chili paste, rice vinegar, sugar, water, and cornstarch; cook over medium heat until thickened.
  6. Pour the chilli sauce over the cooked wontons and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

For extra heat, add sliced fresh chili peppers to the sauce or serve with a side of cooling cucumber salad.
