Tres Leches Cinnamon Rolls

Indulge in soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls soaked in a rich tres leches milk blend, combining classic cinnamon roll flavors with creamy, moist texture for a decadent dessert experience.

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup whole milk (for tres leches soak)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and half of the flour; mix until smooth.
  3. Gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough; knead for about 5-7 minutes until elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  6. Roll dough out on a floured surface into a 16×12 inch rectangle.
  7. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge into a log; cut into 12 equal slices.
  9. Place rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish; cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. While rolls bake, mix evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract.
  12. When rolls are warm, poke holes all over and slowly pour the tres leches mixture over them; let soak for at least 1 hour.
  13. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form; spread over soaked rolls as frosting.
  14. Serve chilled or at room temperature and enjoy your tres leches cinnamon rolls!

Notes

For extra flair, sprinkle chopped toasted pecans or drizzle caramel sauce over the frosted rolls before serving.
