Create a rich, creamy, and incredibly flavorful white garlic pizza sauce from scratch with this easy recipe. Perfect for a delicious homemade pizza night, this sauce provides a wonderful alternative to traditional tomato bases.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (or to taste)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Sprinkle in the all-purpose flour and whisk continuously for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the whole milk and heavy cream, a little at a time, to prevent lumps. Continue whisking until the sauce begins to thicken.
  5. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, then reduce heat to low. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes.
  6. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce reaches your desired thickness.
  7. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before spreading on your pizza crust.

Notes

This sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat gently, adding a splash of milk or cream if it’s too thick, and whisk until smooth.
